Daphna Wysokier Dishi | THE HEALING POWER OF ART
“My art focuses primarily on the continuous exploration of the internal state.
I aim to give visual expression to the connection between pain and growth by creating images and textures that are emotionally expressive and touch on both suffering and enlightenment.
My preferred medium is acrylic paint, which I use in several different ways: layered, scratched, spilled, sponged, etc., to combine both the abstract with the figurative form.”
Inspired by the spirit of the Israeli desert land, Daphna’s paintings reveal an internal journey into the language of emotions by creating images of her own reflections. She combines both abstract and imagery to create a space where internal and external worlds collide into one.
Daphna Wysokier Dishi was born in 1977 in a small agricultural community located in the Negev desert of Israel. Having grown up in a rural desert landscape, Daphna was always drawn to the quietness and stillness of the land and was captivated by the earthy colors and rough textures, which she later explored in her paintings.
After completing her military service in the Israel Defense Forces, she set off to live in Melbourne, Australia, for the next 13 years. During that time, Daphna’s passion for art deepened through her studies in painting with the artist Dena Lester and studying photography with the documentary photographer Emmanuel Tolentino Santo.
In 2002, she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at Monash University in Melbourne.
Then, influenced by her own life, she became interested in art’s healing powers and completed a Master’s degree in Art Therapy at La-Trobe University in 2006.

After returning to Israel, Daphna’s painting expressed her deep emotional state, or psyche, and bridged a connection between her emotions and the universal language of emotions.
