Francesca Donateo
The Rhythm of Structure: Mathematics, Art, And Unity Reflection
Francesca’s artistic approach explores the dynamic nature of mathematics and brings it to life through tangible material support. The resulting images are timeless and detached from context, encouraging the viewer to interpret them in their own way and engage in a dialogue with the artwork.
Francesca’s creativity is driven by a desire to uncover irregularity, illogicality in logic, and indefinability in definition. This approach leads to truly unique and intriguing pieces that seamlessly blend mathematics and art in unexpected ways.

Francesca Donateo
Francesca Donateo is an appreciated mathematics teacher and a skilled explorer of the deep connections that unite the art world to that of numbers. Her artistic journey begins with the fascination for Pythagorean thought, the idea that “everything is a number,” which becomes a mantra in her creative process. Curiosity is a distinctive element of Francesca’s character.
With her analytical mind, she is dedicated to researching and understanding the number sequences found in nature. This interest translates into an incessant study of structures, from the simplest to the most complex, and their harmonious relationship with the concept of “beauty.”
Francesca’s art is a dynamic and musical expression of this fascination with numbers. The rhythmicity of spirals and geometric shapes, which she paradoxically tries to “fix” on canvases or panels, is always the protagonist of her works. She uses bright colors to bring these shapes to life, generating lines, symmetries, asymmetries, optical illusions, and sudden changes of perspective that mirror the ebb and flow of mathematics.
Francesca’s work represents an investigation of mathematical dynamism made tangible through material support.
Her works are images out of time, decontextualized, inviting the observer to interpret them freely, thus stimulating a dialogue between the work and the viewer.
Francesca’s creativity is fueled by the search for irregularity in regularity, illogicality in logic, and indefinability in definition. This intrinsic contradiction guides the artist’s creative action, making each piece of her a unique and intriguing work that reflects an unexpected fusion between mathematics and art.
Francesca Donateo uses painting techniques that mainly revolve around the use of acrylic. In fact, acrylic allows her to express her vision with clarity in tones and colors, creating a mathematical interpretation of the world through vibrant explosions of color.

Through the artwork “Psyche, the re-drawn creation of other perspectives,” Donateo takes us on a fascinating journey into the labyrinth of the contemporary human being.
This 80×80 acrylic work is a kaleidoscopic mixture of colors, geometric shapes, and shades that highlight human nature’s variety and uniqueness. In fact, through shapes and colors, the painting echoes Pirandello tones, reminding us of the one, none, a hundred thousand and reflecting the constant evolution of identity between the self and the other.
This artwork is a challenge to shape one’s individuality, and more than a work of art, it is a symbol of resilience that testifies to our ability to face, adapt and overcome all challenges that life puts before us. In Francesca’s painting, we are not simply faced with a painting but rather with a journey through the terrain of the soul, an invitation to explore, accept and celebrate the countless facets of the self. Through her art, Donateo invites us to participate in this changing dance of the self, to understand the unstoppable flow of our psyche through time, and her creativity leads us through the curves and contours of the human emotional landscape, revealing the conflicts that shape our self-perception.
Yet amidst the shadows of this emotional landscape, a beacon of hope shines, a glimmer of potential regeneration and growth.
Francesca proposes a path towards the rediscovery and reappropriation of our self-image, inviting us to the depths of our inner essence, where the key to every transformation lies.
