BREAKING THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN MEDIUMS
BY INBAL KRISTIN
“We are in the 21st century, painting realistically in the traditional way with oil on canvas is certainly always impressive and beautiful, but I believe we need to advance in the art. Use different techniques, research, combine mediums, make the viewer ask questions, and get interested.
When people often view my works, they do not understand if it is a painting or a print and which technique I used. It creates many questions, but as far as I’m concerned, I’ve already achieved part of the goal, to stimulate the viewer mentally and emotionally.”

Inbal Kristin is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ashkelon, Israel. She graduated with Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and Humanities at the Open University at Ra’anana and a diploma in Media Design at the Ashkelon academy.
In her artistic creation, Inbal uses different mediums, such as Photography, Painting, and digital painting, with the editing process. As a result, her works’ uniqueness is expressed through multiple combined fields such as Photography, painting, and graphic editing. The boundaries between mediums disappear.
In her works, the emphasis is on color, shape, form, line, and textures. The work’s stages include using various mediums during the process, and the final result is Digital Art. The creation process starts with something interesting that she photographed in nature, while in graphic editing, she removes all traces of reality, which leads to a result where it’s impossible to recognize the original photograph.
Sometimes she paints with acrylic on canvas or glues different materials on the canvas; sometimes, she even cuts the canvas into pieces, takes pictures, and then edits on the computer.
As she calls it: “A celebration of creation.”
