JENNE GLOVER
My appreciation for fine arts began in my childhood when my dad and I visited galleries and museums on Sundays. The journey from a figurative, expressionist painter to a mixed-media collagist and colorist has evolved over forty years, through more than eighty solo, “Global Art Awards” juried, and invitational group exhibitions as well as features in publications.
Creating mixed-media collage is like creating a jazz composition; it’s instinctive, improvisational, and free-flowing.
My work is organic, colorful and infused with textures, patterns, rhythm, repetition, symbolism; characters are adorned with crowns, hats, and flowers. I use paint, photographs, magazine cutouts, ready-made materials, fabric, oil pastels, ink and images altered and repurposed from earlier works.
My artwork reflects my appreciation for being an Afrocentric human being with spirit. My goal is to produce images that engage audiences to examine what’s going on; capturing their attention and curiosity to interpret visual messages.
Art has peacefully transformed my life and keeps me in touch with the kid in me.
