MOMENTS | Images of everyday life
Whenever we are trying to recover a recollection, to call up some period of our history, we become conscious of an act sui generis by which we detach ourselves from the present in order to replace ourselves, first, in the past in general, then in a particular region of the past. But our recollection remains virtual; we prepare ourselves to receive it by adopting the appropriate attitude.
Little by little, it comes into view like a condensation cloud; from the virtual state, it passes into the actual, and as its outlines become more distinct and its surface takes on color, it tends to imitate perception.
But it remains attached to the past by its deep roots […]

My body of work investigates the matter, to look back into our experience, to overturn our idea of value and perception, landscape and domestic, alchemy and reproduction, nature and human, sort of microcosm questioning the value of little things. Paintings are images from everyday life that divert us into the reminiscences of the old master’s compositions and the objects from the ordinary. The subjects have been photographed in a random situation, around different cities, Berlin (DE), London (UK), Salvador (BR), Turin (IT), and they lead us in a time-lapse window, where it is possible to recognize beauty and despair. In the simplicity of common homes, suburbs, and between homeless or neighbors, we disclose venerable places, revisited Madonnas, hymns, divinities, and Renaissance’s drapes.
– JESSICA RIMONDI
The painting’s imaginary finds its representation through the use of a mixed media technique comprehensive of screenprint and monotype techniques, traditional oil painting, acrylic, and drawing techniques.
Jessica Rimondi, 1987, is an Italian artist currently living in Berlin. She graduated in mixed media fine art at the University of Westminster in London and studied at the Accademia Albertina DI Torino, Italy.
Jessica elaborates upon seemingly quotidian activities in her paintings and installations, turning small moments and ordinary objects into deeper explorations of human emotions, feelings, and memories.
Her work is thus conceived as a congruence between pop culture and ancestry, playing around the idea of functionality, perception, and value through the use of different techniques.
“Gesture” is at the forefront of her expressive paintings, germinating from her own photos, everyday objects and random situations photographed around visited places, sounds, and processes, revealing a shift from nature to human, daily and historical. Her works are a microcosm, questioning the value of little things that lead us to wonder about them gleaned from our personal experiences.
She has an extensive international exhibition and awards history; she recently started to collaborate with the Simard Bolodeau contemporary gallery of Los Angeles and has been invited for “Sound Vision In Vitro” in Matera in September 2019.
She was selected as the winner of ArtLab Munich indicted by Galerie Benjamin Eck, who realized her Solo Exhibition in 2020. She also received the “Highly commented price” for the CSR Travers Smith Art program(London, UK) and the fellowship for the Sacatar Foundation Residency in Brazil.
Her last solo show took place at the Space Station Gallery in London, and Galerie Augustin, Vienna, represents her work.
