Between Adventure And Danger
By Juliane Hundertmark
“My art expresses a sharp social critique, focusing on social and cultural traumas rather than personal issues. This is the dark side of the consumer society we all live in. To be exceedingly comical, burlesque, dark humor has a subversive edge, and I sincerely like grotesque aesthetics.”

My art is very close to film stills, I like modern theater, and when I’m painting, I slip into a role to imagine and create the strange creatures I paint in my work.
Sometimes the same idea pops up more or less unchanged year after year. This repetition and recycling reflect the open attitude to the works, which are in a state of transformation.
Every painting deals with several of the themes I process throughout my work. Of course, there is anthropomorphism in my art. ( Transfer of human characteristics to non-human / Übertragung menschlicher Eigenschaften auf Nichtmenschliches), But also thoughts, feelings, and ideas – from outside the world.
In my paintings, I have comic characters and stereotypes, which enable me to assume a persona and role while painting. The titles of my paintings are elements of the art; the words function as a visual element, not a caption. Sometimes my works are zoomed in on destructive art, where creating and destroying coincide.

I’m a Berlin-based artist. I find the city inspiring in all fields; the variety of museums, galleries, artists from all over the globe, nightlife, and exciting people fill me with new ideas and help develop my artistic style.
Through the years, I started to develop an interest in Satire paintings, and I make satirical paintings to present essential issues that arise in the current times. For a long time, I have shown my paintings at Art Fairs, especially in the US. And gained a lot of success at Art Fairs in New York and Miami.

I’m inspired by the following artists: Francis Bacon, Paul Mc Carthy, Georg Grosz, and Cindy Sherman, but I could be more ambitious in art history. I often work very freely without having some influence from other artists in my mind. That is the reason for the independence of my paintings; Also, during my studies, I learned a lot about Georg Grosz. I liked his artistic style, which is very critical in society and social topics.
