ROBBIE GALLOWS

Gallows hails from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, later re-locating to Toronto in 2012 to continue his painting and commercial art career.
The layered dark and muted hues of oil paint and ink give his paintings an instantly recognizable style. The contrast in colors is extended to artistic style as he mixes street art themes with contemporary painting techniques.
The inclusion of people in his paintings, who often have a prominent place in the composition, provides a commentary on the interactions between people and the self-constructed environment surrounding them.
These paintings also highlight the vast array of controversial themes, a peek into a counter-culture that constantly surrounds us daily in city life.
Gallows transform life experiences into visual poetry. He explores the unlimited potentiality of color, atmospheric visual planes, and volume within a two-dimensional framework. Viewing his dynamic work is an exciting experience of the underground within the cities streets.
