Sam Pat Crawford’s 2022 – 2023 series “Sentient Forms” is a work of abstract paintings inspired by the tension of positive and negative space, transparencies, and emotional representation through shapes.
She explores the human tendency to attribute emotion and personality to inanimate shapes through paintings of organic forms. The forms interact and have conversations with one another. However, the viewer’s interpretations of the interactions may be more of an inward reflection of the viewer and how they see the relationships around themselves.

Sam Pat Crawford (B. 1995) is a Los Angeles multidisciplinary artist & architectural designer. After completing AP Art in high school, she went to Savannah College of Art & Design, where she studied both art & architecture, graduating with a BFA in Architecture. She gained her M. Arch from UCLA while making art, photography, and creating music on the side. She currently works as an architectural designer and creates abstract paintings and other artwork.
