Tobias Meier | 2B+Photo
Working under the name 2b+photo, Tobias Meier has garnered a lot of attention in the relatively short time he has worked as a high fashion photographer. Previous to fashion photography, Tobias worked in matte painting and lighting for feature films. He sometimes combines his photoshop and editing skills to create concept-heavy fashion editorials.
One of his editorials, “Models In Space…Paris We Have a Problem!” features fashion models floating in space as well as clones. It required shooting each scene with the intention of using specific photoshop editing in post-production. “It was a lot of work,” he says, “but one of the great things was that it picked up two Silver and two Bronze at the Tokyo International Photo Awards.”
In the last three years, 2b+photo has received almost 100 awards and honors from around the world. He explains that the fashion brands he works with are always provided a very detailed example of the photos they can expect to receive.
“Everything is carefully pre-planned and orchestrated to ensure the brand receives an actual photo of the model wearing their clothing exactly as the example they were given. “Some shoots are a couple months of planning, but it is all worth it to ensure that on the day the studio is booked and everyone is scheduled to be on set, we for sure get the desired outcome.”
As for the future, Tobias aims to be featured in more exhibitions. He was recently selected to be featured at The Occulus in NYC for MvVO’s Ad Art Show as well as Berlin Photo Week. Being included in such exhibitions is never something he takes for granted. “To have my work accepted for an exhibition is something I really appreciate because above all else, I aim to create photos that you can get lost in. Something that draws you in and makes you stare.”
Tobias is based in Vancouver with a second base in Paris. He is often in LA and New York. You can see more of his work on his website, Instagram and Artsy.
