VICTOR BEN TZVI – WOMAN IN BECOMING
This is a photo-poem. Between authentic presence and theatrical expression, I’m seeking for a woman in becoming –
a woman vacillating between her craving for splendor and her existential enclosure – between the longing to unveil and cultivate her own femininity, and the drifting into the currents of the life, its norms and demands. It is a colliding and thriving ambiguity of being and becoming, in which the feminine grace emerges and glows, as an idea that dwells in a substance.
Her habitat becomes a Mise-en-Scene, and her authentic presence with its sensuality and contemplation becomes a Personage – capturing the passionate moments of creative unfolding itself and; allegorically alluding to the fairy tales and goddesses, to psychological archetypes, to anxieties and longings.
My poetic inspiration is that this photographic act will be a place, unveiling the vitality of a woman that wants to impress and be understood, to love and to be loved – to be a muse. Portraying the glimpses of a woman in her becoming is my way to explore femininity and her way to sublimely pronounce of herself – to portray and suggest the vision of a noble feminine spirit, to see Splendor from within mundane.
“I’m an art photographer from Israel, passionate about pure photographic expression, and exploring the unique beauty of classic black and white medium, Large Format camera work (4×5”) and theatrical illumination, as a creative and poetic means. In my photo-poem, I’m seeking for “Splendor from within mundane”, to live the themes that captivate me through the act of photography, to unveil the sublime and the sway in them, to pronounce, to suggest and to evoke.
For several years, I’ve been active in other fields of interest, while still unhurriedly and steadily evolving my ongoing photo-poems, and periodically working on commissions and assignments. Recently, after acquiring an all new Linhof Master Technika Camera set (one of the most distinguished creative and professional photographic instruments), and developing a new body of works, I’m resuming an active grow and promotion of my abiding passion – photography.”
