VIKTORIA GANHAO
BETWEEN SUBTLE FIGURATION AND LYRICAL ABSTRACTION
Viktoria Ganhao is a contemporary abstract artist whose works oscillate between subtle figuration and lyrical abstraction.
Predominantly working with acrylic, she also creates her paintings using oil and mixed media. While painting, she lets the spontaneous, intuitive gestures take over, inspired by both what she saw and felt. Her work is about abstract perception, something you can feel but not necessarily see, but it is there. This way, the abstract nature of her art invites the viewer to develop their interpretation of the work.
Viktoria has exhibited her works domestically and internationally in solo and group exhibitions, participated in art fairs and festivals, and continues to be active in showing her art to a different audience; viewers’ feedback is always a huge source of inspiration.

Viktoria Ganhao was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. After living in seven different countries, she eventually moved to Portugal, where she currently lives and works as a full-time artist.
“Forest” and “Rose Petals” are the new series of oil paintings on paper. The main objective of the “Rose Petals” series was to convey the beauty and fragility of nature through abstract images of a flower, from a bud to dry fallen petals through the multi-layered colors, the difference in textures, combinations of juicy shades, and almost transparent details.
Forest series is about a journey to your inner world, intending to obtain answers to the most challenging and essential questions. These paintings are in the form of imaginary landscapes, or better said meditative mindscapes. Viktoria’s artworks are contemporary in aesthetic, with undertones exploring balance, harmony, color, and texture with fields of colors and layers of a fantastical world, drawing the viewer into the atmospheric quality of each painting.
Both series are still under development, and new works will be added.
