YESHAYAHU SHAMIR | Figurative Art | Nudity | Drawing & Sculpting

Over the years, Yeshayahu has explored many arts and design fields, including painting and sculpting. In his work achievements, you will find chief storefront decorator, theater set designer, Books illustrator, and art directing of an advertisement company that has specialized in large-scale 3D billboard ads for the last several years.
The variety of practices he explored has strongly influenced his artistic development, techniques, color, style, and substance.
Shamir is mainly focused on figurative nudity painting of models who visited the studio during the past years.

YESHAYAHU SHAMIR

Yeshayahu Shamir (b. 1947) is a figurative painter and sculptor who lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Yeshayahu has graduated from the renowned academy “Avni Institute of Art” in Tel Aviv, Israel.
He exhibited his work in several galleries in Israel and worldwide, including group exhibitions in the United States and Germany.

Yeshayahu constantly explores new materials and painting techniques. He mainly paints on thick cardboard and paper using color pencils and acrylic paints but also draws on large canvases using acrylic and oil paint.
He often explores the foreground and background of his art using a 3D technique of painting on plywood in several layers which are spaced from the painted background. This method enables him to create layers of depth and add additional perspective to his art.
Recently Shamir has started to explore a technique of painting figures using a single line which he then scans into the computer. With CAD programs, he prints out on metal sheets using C.N.C cutters. On the output, he then adds paints using special paints.

Whenever Shamir creates a painting or sculpture, he encounters thoughts that help him start the following work, whose beginning he knows but does not really know how it will develop. Curiosity and the creative process are the sources of his drive, desire, and curiosity to start and discover what will grow and come out of it. Already thinking of things that urge him to start the next job after that.

Art is an integral part of Shamir’s personality. His main occupation is designing decorations, advertising in brochures, book illustrations, and outdoor advertising and calendars. The connection to the design field gave him great pleasure and great fun in its making, which also influenced the painting and sculpture he created at the same time in his studio.
