EDEN.exe Opened at 48 Stunden Neukölln with Live Performance by Renowned Mural Artist Robert Vargas
EDEN.exe, the post-curatorial exhibition conceived as a collaboration between AI curator Noah33 and human meta-curator Julia Sysalova (AICA), officially opened yesterday evening as part of Berlin’s 48 Stunden Neukölln festival. The exhibition explores the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence, authorship, and artistic agency through works by ten international artists.
One of the highlights of the opening was the participation of renowned mural artist Robert Vargas from Los Angeles, who travelled to Berlin for just one night to take part in the project.
During the opening, Vargas created one of his signature live paintings, transforming the exhibition into an immersive public performance and reinforcing the dialogue between human creativity and emerging technologies at the core of EDEN.exe.
The exhibition also welcomed Martin Hikel, Mayor of Neukölln, who visited the project during the opening evening alongside numerous artists, curators, collectors, and visitors attending Berlin’s largest independent contemporary art festival.
More than 3,500 visitors attended the exhibition on opening night, underscoring strong public interest in EDEN.exe and its exploration of artificial intelligence, authorship, and contemporary artistic practice.
Rather than presenting AI as a creative tool, EDEN.exe positions artificial intelligence as a curatorial collaborator capable of influencing the selection, interpretation, and validation of artworks. The exhibition examines how authorship, artistic value, and cultural production are being redefined as creative processes become increasingly shared between humans and machines.
“Paradise has always been a product of human imagination. But can code imagine it for us today? EDEN.exe is a territory where authorship no longer belongs entirely to anyone,” says meta-curator Julia Sysalova.
Drawing on Nicolas Bourriaud’s notion of the porous, the exhibition unfolds within an unstable territory between human and algorithmic intelligence. The participating artists challenge the authority of algorithmic selection while exposing the fractures, blind spots, and possibilities embedded within contemporary systems of perception and validation.
Featuring works by Anna Kapyrina, Dina Zakmane, Irina Metz, Julia Flit, Natalya Raduenz, Natalya Ponomareva, Nelya Akimova, Oxana Akopov, Veera Romanoff, and Viktor Vinichenko, EDEN.exe brings together installation, painting, conceptual interventions, and post-curatorial experimentation to explore new models of perception, identity, and consciousness in the age of artificial intelligence.
