Cesar Peralta Gaxiola | Fusion of Art & Technology
Born in Mexico City in 1983, Cesar Peralta Gaxiola is a remarkable artist with a unique style that combines digital art and traditional painting techniques. Despite facing a significant personal tragedy at a young age and the loss of his father, Cesar’s artistic passion continued to thrive. Following this difficult period, his mother decided to relocate to the quaint and traditional city of San Luis Rio Colorado in Sonora.
It was within this environment that Cesar’s artistic talents blossomed and developed.
The environment of his upbringing led Cesar to seek refuge in art, using it to process and express emotions he could not show publicly to his family or at school. Cesar’s artistic endeavors aim to evoke empathy in viewers, a direct reflection of the bullying and violence he experienced during his childhood.
Since he was young, Cesar has shown interest in various art forms, including dance, theater, sculpture, and painting. Although he attended a few classes at the local cultural center, he has pursued his passion for art chiefly on his own. His self-directed learning has extended to integrating augmented reality into his artistic creations, a skill he has honed through experimentation and learning from mistakes.

“Augmented reality has allowed me to expand the narrative that static art provides, delving deeper into the story behind the piece and what I wish to convey,” says Cesar. “It also makes the work interactive, allowing viewers to move around the piece with their phone or tablet, appreciating the different details of the virtual elements.”

Since the onset of the pandemic, his art has taken on a more whimsical tone, featuring surreal figures and entities that are a fusion of humans, plants, and animals. Cesar’s work emphasizes the interconnectedness of humans, plants, and animals, promoting a message of empathy and understanding across all species.
Peralta’s artistic process involves three main stages. The first stage is creating the main image using digital media like tablets and computers, incorporating various applications and technologies, including artificial intelligence. Once the image is printed, it moves to his studio, where he enhances it with paint, adding textures, lights, shadows, and other details.
The final step involves animating the artwork and preparing all elements for 3D augmented reality on the computer.
