Natalia Kolpakova | Enchanted
Natalia Kolpakova (Shamrai) is a digital-graphic artist who works independently with a particular focus and is interested in different complex projects, mainly in illustrations, graphic design, and sculptures. Kolpakova’s work is in private collections in Europe, the UK, and the US.
Natalia’s family did not expect an artist in the family due to the long density of physiologists, biochemists, doctors. Still, her grandfather, a renowned physiologist, was a collector of art and antiques, albums, and art history books; his collectibles influenced her artistic style. Natalia studied at the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative Arts and Design, Michael Boychuk, and graduated from the Graphic Faculty of Kyiv Polytechnic University.
Kolpakova’s work is full of mystery and, simultaneously, familiarity. The multi-layered responses to the challenge of external circumstances, clear forebodings and dreams, universal truth hidden under a recognizable layer of lines, texture, and form. Transforming reality with a vivid imagination and
a good sense of humor was embodied in exquisite silk prints. Her illustrations and graphics are captivating and confusing, sometimes frightening, but always hold the audience with a powerful magnet of intrigue and skill.
