Ora Nissim
Modern Jewish Art
Ora Nissim-artist, born in 1978, a painter, was born in “Mea Shearim” neighborhood in Jerusalem, to an ultra-Orthodox family. I was born with an artistic spark that flame-burn inside me, the need to paint and create increased over the years,
The Jewish ultra-Orthodox world culture is full of rituals and scenes, full of emotion, so I found myself looking at the followers wearing black bouncing and dancing like clowns on holidays and prayer filled joy however sacrosanct and from there I got the inspiration to draw followers in rich colors and not only in black and white,
The observer from outside may see the “Haredi” society as closed and monotonous, but I see this world very colorful.
A broad spectrum of human texture to each his own way to worship God, and so have the need for this statue in oils combined with non-impulsive spots continuations to two sharp colors and emphasizes the texture.
Happiness is always a man’s way of surviving is the phenomena accompanying the Jew has entangled me forever,
Alongside the Hasidim and the followers I drew Klezmer band and the holy city, Jerusalem, in a variety of faces, landscapes sharp and colorful, express the beauty of the old town and the modern conservative city lights of developing Jerusalem.
I build myself a colorful world of happy Jews within the shining city.
This is the beauty of art, it gives you the power to create a world, according the reality and experiences you grew up with.
